Each week we read, meditate on, explore and share the same passage of the Bible. We then listen to it, discuss it, learn from it and apply it to our lives when we gather together during the week and on Sundays:
The week beginning 13th May 2012
John 17:16-19, Psalm 1, Acts 1:15-17 and 21-26
We also share a Collect - which is a prayer that gathers the community together spiritually, even though we lead busy lives and are dispersed throughout the city and beyond for much of our time.
O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Read these scriptures and pray this collect regularly, get to know them and let their words filter through you to you very heart and soul. What will God say to you through them, what will he reveal, for you and for others...enjoy the journey...

We are hoping to go to Greenbelt this August 24th-27th August and so far seven of us are going. If you'd like to join us drop me a line/email if you are interested - even if it is to be a day visitor rather than staying on site. Tony Campolo and Bellowhead...got to be an amazingly unique combination!

B1 is a community that seeks to follow Jesus Christ as a daily practice, encourage one another in that journey and invite other seekers to participate as well. In doing so, we believe we encounter a a living God, who transforms and changes how we view life and how we live with others in community, in our city and in our world.
We are beginning to develop a blend of practices that help us live out our Christian faith as a way of life, or those like ourselves who are spiritually seeking, and who are searching for community and kinship.
As a community we seek to:
-
Share the the Good News of Jesus with, those far beyond the margins of established church and those who are spiritually seeking in the city.
-
Develop and sustain a Christian community that complements established church, rather than be an alternative to it...there are lots of good churches in Birmingham already.
-
Make disciples, sustaining and nurturing them in their own mission and witness.
We are currently exploring how this is done in a variety of ways, through member’s homes, regular gatherings in Costa Coffee (Bullring), exploring community for young city centre residents and an old car (recently stolen!) to name a few.
We believe this community will be rooted in the Christian faith, through a shared practice, lifestyle and attitude that can transcend and transform our own particular situations and help us to be a gathered worshipping community, even when we dispersed throughout the city or further afield.
We’ll be updating things on this site as we go, but do get in touch and visit again to learn more!
God bless
Revd Jonathan Dowman (leader of B1)

B1 this week...
Chapel as normal, cathedral Heights at 11 on Sunday 20th and then
B1cafe in the evening, Costa Bullring, from 6pm for our next session on justice.
Jonathan is away, so I won't be able to reply to calls or emails this week, sorry. See you soon, God bless
On Sunday (13th) we will be meeting at our house (117) at 11.15 for 11.30 as Cathedral Heights is not available to us. We will however be back there for May 20th.
Everyone would be welcome to bring a picnic to share on the 13th...something simple.
Mike and Jill have an open house again this Friday from 6pm. Please let them know if you plan to be there and would like to share the meal.
Finally from this Sunday 13th May, B1 will hold regular prayer evenings at Belinda’s house The house will be open from 6pm-10pm.
In one room there will be the main prayer time when we will be praying in 4 areas (our world, our country, our city, our community), keeping ourselves open to how God is leading us to pray.
In the other room there is an opportunity for people who need some space to come and spend time with God on their own.To avoid clashes, please let Belinda know what time you will want this room for.
If you have a particular prayer request for yourself or someone else, you can also ‘book’ time for that and we can arrange someone to pray with you. Or you can ask someone from B1 to come and meet you there to pray.
It would help Belinda to know that you are coming, especially if you would like prayer so she can arrange for others to be available to pray with you...this will be exciting...where will God lead?
Hope to see you soon
God bless
Jonathan
